Rearend..

Finally convinced Papa the other day that the 9" rearend would work better for what we need. After a short journey to the backyard to the old truck chassis to scavenge the rearend, and bringing it in to the garage on the forklift; we set it up under the car and took some measurements. Didn't take much after that to convince him that it was the size we needed.

After sizing up the rearend, we called the wheel guy and got the measurements for the wheels we will need. Had we of stayed with the 8" rearend, there wouldn't be a wheel available that would have worked. As it is with the 9" one, we will need to use the smallest backspacing they can produce, which is 2 and 1/2 inches. Any less than that and it would reduce the strength of the wheels.

Begining the layout of the frame

papa got the frame setup to begin fabrication. Set the Mustang II crossmember up there to begin fitting it.

Buffing out 81 year old paint..

Took a buffing wheel to the car body today, in order to see what would happen. Amazing how that 81 year old paint can buff to a nice shine!
